Windows 7 - The New Windows XP?
Microsoft has announced the release date of Windows 7 - October 22nd, 2009. Originally anticipated for release in early 2010, Microsoft has surprised us with a pre-holiday release date. Coming a little less than three years after the highly anticipated Windows Vista, Windows 7 is believed to be the next "must upgrade" version of Windows.
Microsoft's history of operating system releases suggests this version will be a welcome replacement to many users still running Windows XP. In fact, many windows users found themselves in this very same place in the beginning of the decade with the release of Windows XP. Back in 2000, Microsoft hastily released Windows ME and within two years, replaced that with Windows XP in late 2001. It has been the go-to operating system since then. Many Windows Vista users quickly reverted back to XP after experiencing volumes of issues with the new operating system. Following Microsoft's pattern, Windows 7 should be the next Windows XP - the next "standard" version of Windows.
What does this mean for you and your applications?
