The InstallFree Encapsulator is comprised of a set of tools used to create, edit and test the different types of IFV Application components known as AOD files (Application On Demand).
AOD files include Application AODs for the base virtual application package, Expansion AODs for virtual add-ons and plug-ins, and Update AODs that patch applications to a newer version.
AOD Builder
The AOD Builder is a unique application virtualization utility used to create Application and Expansion AODs. It uses a virtual environment as a clean-slate operating system in which applications are normally installed. During the installation all the data and files written are pooled and encapsulated into a stateless AOD file. Once the AOD file is created, the virtual environment closes and the AOD file can run on almost any Windows-based platform regardless of the OS settings and versions of the PC it was virtualized on.

AOD Patch Builder
The AOD Patch Builder is a comparison utility used to create Update AOD files. It does so by outputting the difference between two versions of the same AOD file. When the produced Update AOD runs together with an Application AOD, they bind at runtime and create, on-the-fly, an updated application.
